Cartoons

      Here are two cartoons based on A Streetcar Named Desire. One is a political cartoon based on a line from the book but not exactly like it originally is. The second is a scene drawn from the book. Both are the artists own interpretations of the characters. I think when looking at a cartoon it is important to look at both of these types because you get an understanding of how people interpret the text.

Here is the video I made with Selena as my creative video performance. It is a parody of the play that I created last year for my IB project.

  This book is an in-depth analysis of the play by means of old and new essays based on it. There are analysis' through different views like the postwar world. There is also analysis on the sexuality, gender and identity of the characters in this book. The topic of why Stanley rapes Blanche is questioned, critics believe it may have just been to add a morale ending in terms of speaking

American Masters

     American Masters is a PBS company that makes biographies of actors and pop icons that have left a great impact on the US' popular culture. The subject of these is our favorite, Tennessee Williams. The video gives a look from Williams' early life up through his adulthood and struggles with alcohol and drugs. The video is informative on all of his life's details including his homosexuality and problems with addiction, which are apparent in his works.

 I am only able to find a link online to the summary of the video from the PBS website but a physical copy could be obtained at a local library or possibly ordered online.

This is a wonderful video to look into the character of Blanche DuBois and it is also entertaining. 

We get an idea of what kind of character she is in terms of her lying and deceit. The video isn't meant for a big in-depth analysis of the character but just an overview. The presentation is of an AP English student who made this video for an English class.
